There is so much to see and do at the Open Air Museum that it is virtually impossible to experience everything we have to offer. A tour is a great way to make the most of your visit. An enthusiastic guide will take you back in time and tell you stories that bring the museum’s top attractions to life.
At our Brabant brewery, known as ‘De Roskam', the brewer creates delicious beer in a contemporary way. He will be happy to tell you more about this process and take you on a tour of the brewery. Brewer Patrick Leenders: ‘Our craftsmanship sets us apart and has also helped us land a number of awards. The museum’s autumn bock beer is one of the top 3 beers in the Netherlands. That’s something we are extremely proud of.’ Creating great-tasting beer is the top priority.
Around 15,000 years ago our ancestors used bows for hunting and as weapons. Today, archery is a fun and exciting sport.
On the range behind café Budel you will find the target, a disc made up of different coloured circles. Our instructor will show you how to hold the bow and... fire your arrow straight into the bull’s-eye like a real Robin Hood! Once you have finished playing you can relax in the bar for a drink and a chat.
The Holland Open Air Museum’s pall-mall court is opposite café Budel, our bar from the province of North Brabant. Pall mall was once an extremely popular pastime in Limburg and Brabant. The aim of the game is to hit a ball weighing over 4 kilos through the iron hoop with a wooden mallet. Don’t forget... sometimes it is more about tactics than power!
